Relying on Google Maps Tourists Land In Kerala Stream, Car Sinks, Passengers Saved

Kottayam: A group of tourists from Hyderabad had a shock of their life when their navigation using Google maps landed them in a deep stream near Kuruppanthara in the Kottayam district in Kerala.

The incident occurred late Friday night. A four-member group of tourists including a woman were travelling to Alappuzha. Due to heavy rains and an overflowing stream, the road was under water.

As they were unfamiliar with the area, they were navigating using Google maps. But all of a sudden they drove into the water body and their car started to sink in the water.

Luckily the locals and a police patrol managed to rescue all of them unharmed. But their vehicle sank in the water. Efforts are on to pull out the vehicle.
