Revenue Supervisor Under Vigilance Trap; Caught While Taking Bribe from Blind Man

Mayurbhanj: Odisha vigilance arrested a revenue supervisor of Suliapada tehsil office of Mayurbhanj district, for accepting bribe of Rs 2,500 from a blind person. He was reportedly taking the bribe to facilitate the sanction of an incentive amount in the complainant’s favour.

The accused was identified as Sanjay Kumar Padhi. According to reports, the complainant deserved government incentive, which is given towards marriage between a person with benchmark disability and a normal person as per provisions of the state SS&EPD department.

The complainant married on November 3, 2022. He was then entitled to get the incentive amount of Rs 2.5 lakh as per the above scheme of the State government.

The accused demanded a bribe from the man to submit an enquiry report to the Suliapada tehsildar as regards the marriage of the complainant. On being informed about the taking of bribe, Padhi was nabbed red-handed. The entire bribe money was recovered from his possession and seized.

Simultaneous searches are underway at two different places associated with Padhi from disproportionate asset (DA) angle. Balasore Vigilance PS Case [No-3, Dated-7.2.2023 U/s 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018] has been registered in this connection.
