Russian Warplane Accidentally Bombs Own City at Ukraine Border

A Russian fighter jet accidentally fired a weapon into the city of Belgorod near Ukraine border on Thursday. It caused an explosion and damaged buildings, reported Tass news agency, citing the Russian defence ministry.

The blast caused the formation of a large crater measuring 20 metres wide on the main street of Belgorod.

According to the Russian defence ministry, a Sukhoi Su-34 air force plane “accidentally discharged” aviation ammunition while flying over Belgorod, a city which lies just across the border from Ukraine. Two women were injured in the blast.

According to Tass, an investigation has been initiated and some buildings were damaged in the blast. Visuals from the site of the explosion showed several damaged cars and a building with broken windows.
