Sambalpur Communal Violence: Curfew Relaxed for Another 2 Hrs

Sambalpur: The district administration has further relaxed the curfew timings by two hours in violence-hit Sambalpur Town on Tuesday. The curfew has been relaxed from 5.00 am to 10.00 pm today.

Earlier, the Sambalpur district administration imposed a curfew until further notice in the town. The decision was taken following violence during a religious rally to mark Hanuman Jayanti.

Sambalpur Sub Collector ordered Curfew under Section 144(1) of the CrPc after receiving input on the current situation prevailing in the city.

No individual or group of people were allowed to come out of their houses during the curfew in the jurisdictional area of Town, Dhanupali, Khetrajpur, Ainthapali, Bareipali, and Sadar – police limits of Sambalpur with immediate effect until further orders, the official notice read.

The internet service was restored after the completion of the ban period at 6:00 AM in the Sambalpur district.

The Sambalpur district administration has extended the suspension of internet services in the violence-hit district for another 12 hours in the district.
