SDM Suspended, Booked for Sexual Harassment of Tribal Girls in MP

Bhopal: Sunil Kumar Jha, a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district was suspended and a case was registered against him for alleged sexual harassment of minor tribal girls. He is alleged to have resorted to this misbehavior at a government-run hostel on Sunday.

As per the complaint filed against him, the SDM Sunil Kumar Jha allegedly committed obscene acts with the minor tribal students during the inspection of the hostel. The superintendent of the hostel filed a complaint against the SDM.

A case was registered against the SDM under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from of Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, on Tuesday.

Following it, Madhya Pradesh government put the concerned SDM under suspension. Investigation is on.
