Setback for Chennai Super Kings, Injured Devon Conway to Miss 1st Half of IPL 2024

New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings suffered a major jolt ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as their star batter Devon Conway is all set to miss at least the first half of the competition because of an injury.

Devon injured his left thumb during the T20I series against Australia. He will undergo surgery on his left thumb, New Zealand Cricket issued a statement ahead of the second Test match against Australia.

Conway will need a minimum of 8 weeks to recover from the surgery. So, he will miss the opening match of the IPL 2024 season against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22.

“BLACKCAPS opener Devon Conway will this week undergo surgery on the left thumb he damaged during the KFC T20I series against Australia.”

“Following several scans and specialist advice, the decision was made to operate on Conway with a likely recovery period of at least eight weeks,” read the statement.
