Spl Shoes That Generate Electricity, Provide Real Time Location Designed by IIT Indore for Soldiers

Indore: Special shoes have been designed for soldiers by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore that generate electricity and also provide wearer’s real time location.

Ten pairs of these special shoes designed by IIT Indore have already been supplied to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). These shoes can enhance the safety, coordination and efficiency of soldiers of the Indian Army.

According to reports, these special shoes use Tribo-Electric Nanogenerator (TENG) technology to generate electricity with every step. This electricity is stored in a device in the soles and can be used to operate small appliances.

These shoes have a global positioning system (GPS) and radio frequency identification (RFID) facility which enables easy determination of the location of the wearer in real-time.

These shoes can also be used to track the location of senior citizens suffering from Alzheimer’s, school children and climbers. They can be used to monitor the attendance and activities of workers in factories.

These shoes can analyse the movements of sportspersons to help in the improvement of their performance.
