Patna: Spurious liquor allegedly claimed at least three lives in Bihar’s Vaishali district. One of the deceased was the principal of a private school in Vaishali’s Mehnar.

This liquor tragedy occurred in Bihar despite the fact that liquor sales and consumption is completely banned in the state since 2016.

In a similar manner, another man named Rahul of Mehnar, became ill after consumption alcohol at a wedding. The third man Anil also faced a similar problem after consuming liquor collected from secret sources. All of them died after some time. It raised the suspicion that they were victims of spurious liquor.

Vaishali’s district administration and police have formed a special medical team to ascertain the cause of death of these persons.

Inhabitants of Vaishali have been requested by the administration to report any death or illness following secret liquor consumption.

Despite the ban on liquor, black marketeering of alcoholic drinks continues in Bihar. On Thursday seven persons including five prisoners and two policemen were arrested while they were having a liquor party inside an excise police station in Paliganj in Bihar’s Patna.
