Stage Set for 2nd Phase Polls in Odisha, 305 Candidates in Fray

Bhubaneswar: Voting for the second phase of elections in Odisha will be held on May 20. A total of 305 candidates are contesting in the second phase of elections in Odisha for the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats.

On may 20, voting will be held in five Parliamentary constituencies of Bargarh, Sundargarh, Balangir, Kandhamal and Aska as well as the Assembly seats under them.

The nominations of 40 candidates have been found to be valid in the five Parliamentary constituencies. Six nominations were found invalid and rejected. One candidate withdrew his nomination.

Similarly, 265 candidates are contesting in 35 Assembly segments under these five Lok Sabha constituencies. Although 298 candidates had filed their nominations for these Assembly seats, the nominations of 23 candidates were rejected. Ten candidates withdrew their nominations.
