Stretch Between Khandagiri And Udaygiri Caves Sealed In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has sealed the road between Khandagiri and Udaygiri caves in Bhubaneswar in a bid to protect the ancient sites from vibration stress from vehicular movement and pollution.

According to reports, the authorities have put up boom barriers on the approach road towards the cave from Khandagiri square and the road towards Jaydev Vatika.

According to ASI’s Odisha chief D B Garnayak, the road will remain closed permanently for vehicles to curb CO2 emission from vehicles and vibration stress to prevent further deterioration of the monuments.

Visitors have welcomed the move to close the stretch between the caves for vehicular movement. Meanwhile, the locals, however, claimed that they might have faced some difficulty as it served as an alternative road to the NH.
