Teacher Drowns in Mahanadi While Saving A Student

Nayagarh: A teacher drowned in the Mahanadi river while saving a student at Kantilo under Khandapada block of Odisha’s Nayagarh district, today.

The deceased was identified as Saroj Dash. He was serving as a teacher in a private school of Mahakalapada in Kendrapara district.

According to sources, students and teachers of the institution had reached Kantilo for a picnic. While some students were bathing in the river, one of them went into deep water and got drowned.

In order to save the student, Saroj jumped into the deep river. Unfortunately, he drowned while saving the student.

Locals rescued the teacher and rushed him to the Khandapada Community Health Centre. He was declared dead by the doctors there.
