Teenage Girl Student Raped, Murdered in Mumbai Hostel, Accused Security Guard Commits Suicide

Mumbai: The body of an 18-year-old college student, allegedly raped and murdered, was found in her hostel room in south Mumbai on Tuesday night. The body of a security guard, an accused in the case, was found on railway tracks near the hostel.

On Tuesday evening, police were alerted at around 5 pm, when the girl student could not be located. Her fourth-floor hostel room in Charni Road was locked from the outside. A police team broke into the hostel room to find her murdered. She was throttled to death with a piece of cloth.

The deceased was a student at a government polytechnic college in Bandra. During the investigation, it was revealed that the hostel’s security guard was a suspect in the case. Later he was found dead on the railway tracks near Charni Road station.

An FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code Sections 302 (murder) and 376 (rape), and a probe is on.
