Wild Elephant Kills Two Minors, Injures Their Parents

Jharsuguda: Two minor boys were trampled to death by a wild elephant at Bhaunra in Jharsuguda district of Odisha on Thursday. The angry pachyderm also injured the parents of these children.

The deceased were identified as Dhananjay Satnami (9) and Ajay Satnami (11). They were from a family of poor labourers who had come from neighbouring Chhattisgarh to work in a brick kiln.

According to sources, Umesh Satnami, his wife Leherabai Satnami along with their three children had come over to Bhaunra to work in a brick kiln.

Reportedly, the incident took place late at night when the family was fast asleep. A wild elephant broke into the house and trampled the two kids to death. While attempting to sav the children, their parents sustained injuries.

The injured couple was rescued by forest department personnel. They were admitted to the Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital.
