UP STF Reaches Bargarh in Search of Atiq’s Close Aide Guddu Muslim

Bargarh: A team of the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) reached Odisha’s Bargarh in search for Gangster turned politician Atiq Ahmed’s close aide Guddu Muslim.

Confirming this, IG Deepak Kumar informed the media that the UP STF had visited Bargarh and sought the help of the local police in their probe into the case related to Guddu Muslim and made some verifications as per the provisions in the CrPC.

The team visited a number of places in Bargarh. However, IG Deepak Kumar refused to say further details regarding the STF’s visit.

Earlier, the Special Task Force (STF) of UP police interrogated one person at Bhatli in Bargarh district in connection with a fugitive Guddu Muslim. As per reports, this person is said to be having links with the driver of gangster Guddu Muslim.

Uttar Pradesh police are currently searching for Guddu Muslim, the close aide of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed. Guddu Muslim is absconding since the double murder of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf.

Earlier, national media had reported that the gangster’s last location was in the Puri district. But the police have not confirmed it. Guddu Muslim is among the 10 accused named in the Umesh Pal murder case. Six of them have been killed and Guddu Muslim is among the four others who are absconding.

Ashraf had taken the name of Guddu Muslim just before he was shot dead on April 15.

There were reports that the UP STF arrested Guddu Muslim in Nashik. But the Maharashtra police clarified that the ‘arrested’ person was a waiter in a hotel and not Guddu Muslim.
