Veteran Film Producer & Journalist Alaya Mohanty Passes Away

Bhubaneswar: Veteran film producer and journalist Alaya Mohanty passed away on Tuesday.

According to family sources, Mohanty passed away while undergoing treatment at a Bhubaneswar-based hospital. He was 65.

He had shot to fame after producing art films like Sunya Swaroopa and Asha.

His movie Sunya Swaroopa based on the Mahima cult was adjudged the Best Feature Film in Odia at the 44th National Film Festival in 1996.

The film also bagged awards in five categories in Odisha State Film Awards including best film and best direction.

Tele soaps Balighara and Marichika later added feathers to his cap.

After his death news spread, and many artists and politicians paid last visit to offer tribute to the departed soul.
