Watch | Maid Held Hostage & Assaulted by Employer in Noida

New Delhi: Police rescued a 20-year-old domestic help from an apartment in a posh society in Noida on Tuesday. She was allegedly held hostage for two months and assaulted by her employer.

According to police sources, this maid was employed by Shefali Koul, an advocate. She has been booked under Sections 344 (illegal confinement beyond 10 days), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 504 (insult) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Noida police sources said.

The Father of the victim had lodged a complaint with the police. As per the complaint, his daughter completed a six-month work contract with Koul on October 31. But the employer did not let the domestic help leave her place even after the completion of the contract.

It is alleged that this girl was held hostage, assaulted, and abused by her employer.

On Tuesday, the maid tried to escape from Koul’s fourth-floor apartment using a rope. After getting information about it, a police team rescued her.

A CCTV footage of an elevator showing Koul dragging the domestic help out of the lift has also surfaced on social media.
