Wild Elephant Kills Man in Keonjhar District

Keonjhar: Adding to the casualties in the elephant-human conflict continuing in Odisha, a person was killed by a stray wild tusker at Raikudar village under Ghatagaon police station in Keonjhar district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased identified as Rabi Mohanty, died when a wall pushed to the ground by the wild elephant, fell on him.

According to reports, Rabi and his wife were sleeping in their house when this mishap occurred. Searching for the stored paddy, the stray tusker broke down a wall of their house in search of stored paddy. Rabi got trapped under the collapsed wall. Seriously injured Rabi was rushed to the Ghatagaon Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead.

Receiving information, forest officials reached the village for investigation. Villagers demanded proper compensation for the widow of the man killed by the elephant.
