Wild Elephant Tramples 75-Yr-Old Man to Death in Mayurbhanj Dist

Baripada: A 75-year-old man named Adhar Patra was killed in an elephant attack in the Rasgobindpur forest range of Mayurbhanj district on Friday morning.

According to officials, the deceased was a resident of Bechujhal village under Niagaram police limits in West Bengal. He was on a visit to his daughter’s in-law’s house in Sarumula village under Rasgobindpur block.

He had come out of the house at around 4:30 am on Friday when he came face to face with a wild elephant roaming in the area.

The wild tusker trampled Adhar under its feet and he died on the spot. Forest officials rushed to the spot to make an inquiry. The body of the deceased was sent for autopsy to the PRM Medical College and Hospital in Baripada.

Locals alleged that because of the poachers in the jungles, wild elephants were coming out into the villages.
