Wild Tigress Tranquilised & Captured Near Human Habitat in UP

Lucknow: A wild tigress was tranquilized and captured by forest officials while the feline was trying to enter Basantpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district.

This tigress had panicked locals of the area as on November 10, 2022, it had killed a 10-year-old boy at Nimbuabojh in the buffer zone. After that the tigress was captured and radio-collared. It was released into the wild again on November 29, 2022.

On Wednesday evening the tigress was located near the Basantpur village through the radio signal transmitted from its collar. Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) and Field Director Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR), B Prabhakar, said that the tigress was tracked and tranquilised and then captured.

The tiger will be medically examined and if found fit, would be released in some other part of the reserve away from human habitats.
