Wrestlers Put up 5 Demands Before Sports Min Anurag Thakur

New Delhi: During a crucial meeting between the representatives of agitating wrestlers, led by Olympic medallist Bajrang Punia, and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur at his residence on Wednesday, the wrestlers put out five demands.

Wrestlers wanted the Wrestling Federation of India to be headed by a woman.

They vehemently opposed the inclusion of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh or his family members in the WFI.

Wrestlers demanded free and fair elections to the Wrestling Federation of India.

They wanted the police case filed against them over their protest on the day of the new Parliament building inauguration to be scrapped.

Wrestlers reiterated their demand for the arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh.

This meeting was called by Anurag Thakur. Vinesh Phogat did not attend the meeting as she was in her village Balali in Haryana to attend a pre-scheduled ‘panchayat’. BKU leader Rakesh Tikait, who is supporting the protesting wrestlers was not part of the meeting.

Punia, Rio Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik and her wrestler husband Satyawart Kadiyan held discussions with the minister.
