Delhi Police With Wrestler Sangeeta Phogat Reach Brij Bhushan’s Residence

New Delhi: To recreate the events related to her allegation of sexual harassment, Delhi Police on Friday took wrestler Sangeeta Phogat to WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s official residence in Delhi.

According to sources, at around 1.30 pm, Sangeeta Phogat accompanied by female police personnel was at Brij Bhushan’s official residence in Delhi for half an hour to recreate of events she had faced.

The SIT of Delhi Police is inquiring about the sexual harassment allegations against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP MP from Kaiserganj, Uttar Pradesh. By next week the SIT will submit its investigation report on the two cases registered against Brij Bhushan before the court. The SIT has interrogated more than 180 persons in relation to these two cases.

Top wrestlers of the country, including Asian Games gold medallist Vinesh Phogat and Olympic medallists Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, had been protesting against Singh and demanding his arrest for allegedly sexually harassing seven female grapplers, including a minor.

After meeting Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday, the agitating wrestlers have halted their protest till June 15.
