Youth Arrested for Staging Self-Abduction for Money

Sambalpur: A youth was arrested for stagging self-abduction. The youth, who was allegedly abducted from Sambalpur district a week earlier, was traced to the capital city of Odisha.

The youth was identified as Satya Sahu. He hails from Sahebi village under Naktideul police limits in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

According to sources, Satya on January 31 informed his family that he has been kidnapped and the criminals have demanded a ransom of Rs 3 lakh to release him.

Following the incident, the family members lodged an FIR at Naktideul police station. With the help of mobile phone tracking, the police were able to trace the youth’s location.

He was rescued from Bhubaneswar and was arrested under the relevant section of IPC for faking abduction.
