Youth Slits Students’ Throat Inside College Hostel in Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: A youth allegedly slit the throat of two students of Rajendra University in Odisha’s Balangir district during extorting money at a PG hostel.

The injured students were identified as Ruturaj Singh and Lalit Meher, studying Plus III first-year at the University. The accused was identified as Simran Bag.

According to sources, Simran Bag entered the hostel and tried to extort money from the students. When the victims resisted, he slit their throats with a blade. He then took selfies with them.

On being informed, Balangir police reached the University and arrested Simran. The injured were rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital.

“Simran is a habitual offender and several criminal cases are pending against him,” said Balangir sub-divisional police officer Tofan Bag.
