Begunia Tahasildar Lands In Vig Net For Accepting Bribe

Khordha: A Tahasidal of Khordha’s Begunia area was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 45,000.

The accused Tahasildar has been identified as Prithviraj Mandal, Tahasildar-cum-Sub-Registrar of Begunia.

According to Vigilance officials, Mandal had demanded a bribe of Rs 45,000 for the issuance of a conversion patta.

Based on this complaint, a trap was laid and the Tahasildar-cum-Sub-Registrar was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in front of his house here at Kalinga Vihar.

The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Mandal and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Mandal gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him the Vigilance stated.

The anti-corruption agency has registered a case in this connection and investigating further.
