Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project to be Completed by December 2027, Minister Confirms

Bhubaneswar: The much-anticipated Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project is progressing as planned, with completion slated for December 2027, announced Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday.

In a written response to Congress MLA Sofia Firdous from Barabati-Cuttack, Mahapatra detailed that the first phase of the project, stretching 26 km from Trisulia in Cuttack to Bhubaneswar International Airport (BPIA), is already underway.

The Odisha government’s ambitious metro rail initiative aims to enhance urban connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the region.

The first phase is expected to significantly improve transportation between the key areas of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
