Bhubaneswar Shocker: Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped For Objecting to Birthday Celebration

Bhubaneswar: Three teenagers were arrested by the police on Tuesday for allegedly raping a woman on Monday night in Bhubaneswar’s Mancheswar area. The event came to light after the woman lodged a written complaint to the local police station.

Swadhin Kumar Nayak, Debashis Pradhan and Deepak Kumar Sethy were named as the accused.

According to the information, Sethy had arranged a birthday party in a hotel on Monday night with the help of his friends Pradhan and Nayak.

The very intoxicated suspect later showed up in an open field close to the Railway colony where the victim had been living in a tent after her home was demolished during an eviction drive. The woman became irritated by the noise and requested that they cease talking loudly and crudely.

The teenagers became enraged by this and began hurling abusive insults at her. The victim and the accused also engaged in a verbal altercation. They allegedly stripped her and then sexually assaulted her.

However, other nearby locals arrived at the site after hearing the victim scream, at which point the accused ran away. Mancheswar Police registered a case and apprehended Pradhan, Sethy, and Nayak as a result of the victim’s FIR. Eleven other people who attended the birthday party were also booked by the police.
