Budget 2023: Odisha To Recruit 1799 JAs, 335 PGTs At Various Schools

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will recruit 1799 junior assistants and 335 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) at various schools, announced Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari while presenting the budget today.

While presenting the full-fledged budget of Rs 2.3 lakh crore for the financial year 2023-24, Pujari said steps are being taken for the recruitment of 1799 Junior Assistants and 335 posts of Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs).

Besides, 106 High Schools will be upgraded into Higher Secondary Schools, Pujari added.

“Our Government is prioritising to fill up vacancies through recruitment of teachers in high schools, higher secondary schools. During last year, 11,403 Secondary Teachers were recruited. Further, Cabinet has also given its nod for the creation of 6025 Leave and Training Reserve (LTR) posts to be filled in Government Secondary Schools. Also, we have initiated recruitment of 7540 regular teachers in Government Secondary Schools,” the Finance Minister informed the House.

Notably, Pujari proposed a total budget allocation of Rs 22,528 crore for the School and Mass education department in the budget for 2023-24 fiscal.

Besides, Pujari also proposed Rs 155 crore for Gangadhar Meher Shikshya Manakbrudhi Yojana and increased the present rate from Rs 2600 to Rs 3500 during the financial year 2023-24.

The scheme is implemented to check the dropout rate and encourage the beneficiaries to complete Secondary education which includes supply of Free Bi-Cycle to all Students studying in Class-IX of Government, Government Aided, Block Grant High Schools, Sanskrit Tols and Madrasa.
