FM Niranjan Pujari Presents Odisha Budget 2023 In Assembly, Here Are The Salient Points

Bhubaneswar: Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari on Friday presented the Odisha budget with Rs 2,30,000 crore outlay for the financial year 2023-24.

While presenting the annual budget, Pujari said that this year’s budget is based on CM’s vision of building a new Odisha – an empowered Odisha

Presenting the agricultural budget, Pujari said that an outlay of Rs.24,829 crore has been made which is around 20 per cent more than last year and three times of the budget estimate during 2016-17.

In view of the paddy procurement operations which are increasing and to ensure timely payment to the farmers, a provision of Rs.2,000 crore has been made in the budget as a revolving fund which will be utilised for paddy procurement operations besides the borrowings by OSCSC, said the state finance minister.

According to Pujari, the Odisha government has been focusing on the agriculture sector and supporting this sector through a separate Agriculture Budget since 2013-14 with the allocation of a sizeable portion of its resources.

“Rs 4198 crore allocated for setting up of 1 lakh additional deep bore wells by 2025-26, Rs 400 crore for 1500 lift irrigation projects under Biju Krushak Vikas Yojana and Rs 191 crore for renovation of defunct lift irrigation projects. “Rs 166 crore was earmarked for agriculture research at OUAT, Rs 381 crore was allocated for the development of horticulture, Rs 367 to be spent for women SHGs in agriculture in 5 years, and Rs 100 crore for mushroom mission and floriculture,” budget read by Pujari.

“A total budget allocation of Rs 22,528 crore for School and Mass education department while Rs 854 crore for setting up of 16 new instream storage projects on river this year, Rs 500 crore for Parbati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation Project,” Pujari added to the house.
