Drivers To Hit The Streets In Bhubaneswar From March 15

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangh has decided to hit the streets in Bhubaneswar from March 15 demanding the state government to fulfill their demands.

The association informed that activists of 10 associations, including Smart City Association, Motor Drivers’ Association and Odisha Transport Drivers’ Association will hold protest in support of its 10-point charter of demands.

They alleged that even though the Chief Minister had assured to fulfill their demands by December 15, none of the demands has been met so far.

Stating that the drivers are forced to go for the strike due to the state government’s indifferent attitude to their condition, Mahasangh’s president Prashant Menduli sought the people’s support though they may face communication problem during the agitation.

The drivers would resort to peaceful agitation and the vehicles engaged in emergency services like ambulance, Fire Brigade, schools and administration will be exempted from the strike, Menduli said.

A Driver Ekata Mancha has been formed to spearhead the agitation.
