Coal-Laden Goods Train Catches Fire at Soro Railway Station

Balasore: A goods train transporting coal experienced a fire incident on Platform No-1 at Soro railway station in Balasore district on Saturday evening, with the cause of the fire still under investigation. Thanks to the swift response of railway employees, a major disaster was averted.

The goods train was en route from Nergundi in Cuttack district to Durgapur in West Bengal when railway staff noticed a fire near Markona station while the train was in motion. They promptly alerted their superiors in the railway department.

The Markona stationmaster and the train guard, along with the Soro stationmaster, took immediate action. The goods train was halted at Soro, where local fire services personnel worked diligently to extinguish the flames.

Notably, a similar incident occurred on June 10 at Rupsa railway station in Balasore, when a wagon of a stationary goods train caught fire. Quick response from the fire services prevented any mishap, allowing the freight train carrying coal from West Bengal to Balasore to continue its journey after the fire was successfully controlled.
