Thunderstorms, Lightning Likely in 9 Odisha Districts Over Next 3 Days; Yellow Warning Issued

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Warning for nine districts in Odisha due to the prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation. Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur in one or two places within the next 24 hours.

According to the IMD’s evening bulletin, a cyclonic circulation over Bihar has now shifted to south Bihar and its neighbourhood, extending up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level, with a trough aloft roughly along Latitude 88°E to the north of 22°N at 3.1 Km above mean sea level.

The weather forecast for the next two days indicates light to moderate rain or thundershowers in many places in North Odisha and a few places in South Odisha.

As of the latest recorded temperatures, Paralakhemundi registered the highest maximum temperature at 35.0°C, while Phulbani and Nabarangpur experienced the lowest minimum temperature at 23.0°C in the plains of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Dhenkanal.

For Monday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.08.2023)

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapara.
