Indian Army Jawan Succumbs to Injuries After Assault in Odisha’s Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: An Indian Army jawan, J Dileshwar, hailing from Kalipalli village in Odisha’s Ganjam district, succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault on Thursday. Dileshwar, stationed in Durgapur, West Bengal, was on leave and attacked by four assailants on Sunday while returning from Gopalpur after a game. The incident occurred at Haripur street under Chamakhandi police limits.

Despite being rushed to a Berhampur hospital first and then transferred to a Bhubaneswar private hospital due to deteriorating condition, Dileshwar succumbed to his injuries on December 7th.

Taking swift action, the police registered an FIR on December 5th and have apprehended one suspect. The search for the remaining three fugitives is ongoing, with two dedicated teams working tirelessly to ensure justice for Dileshwar.

Initial investigations point towards an old enmity being the motive behind the attack. The Ganjam SP, Jagmohan Meena, assured the public that the investigation is progressing rapidly and all efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining perpetrators.
