Jagannath Circuit, Jagannath Express Before 2023 Rath Yatra: Railway Minister

Bhubaneswar: Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw who is on an Odisha trip, announced on Saturday that a number of initiatives are now under progress in the railways sector in Odisha.

While interacting with the media today, he asserted that Jagannath Circuit will be operationalised and Jagannath Express trains will run to Puri prior to the next year’s Rath Yatra. The Bharat Gourav Project is funding these initiatives, he said.

He further pointed out that the coaches of trains coming under Jagannath Circuit and Jagannath Express trains would be painted with pictures depicting the Jagannath culture.

On being inquired about the possibilities of metro services in Odisha, Vaishnaw assured that if the State Government makes a proposal in this regard, the Metro train project will be initiated in Odisha. He stated that no such request has yet been sent to the Union Government by the Odisha Government.

He also promised the public that Odisha will get its own Vande Bharat Express very soon.

Notably, Vande Bharat Express is one of the most premium series of trains operated by the Indian Railways.
