3 Students Dead, 1 Critical After Snakebite at Keonjhar Coaching Centre

In a devastating incident on Saturday night, three students lost their lives after being bitten by a venomous snake while they were sleeping inside a coaching centre in the Nischitapur area of Keonjhar district. Among the deceased were two girls and a boy student. Additionally, another student suspected to have been bitten by a snake has been shifted to Cuttack in critical condition. The coaching centre, where this unfortunate event took place, was accommodating around 60 students.

Heartbroken parents received distressing calls from the coaching centre, urging them to rush to the hospital. By the time they arrived, the tragic outcome had already claimed the lives of their beloved children. One grieving guardian shared, “I got a call from the coaching centre asking me to come to the hospital. When I reached the spot, I learnt that my daughter had died.”

Another bereaved parent, Damyanti, spoke of her daughter, Elina, who was studying in standard three. “I had spoken with her last night. But I don’t know what happened. When we reached the spot, she had died already.”

The local authorities were informed of the incident around 7:30 am, but family members were not notified until later. There is suspicion that a venomous snake was responsible for the tragic deaths, but the precise details have not been confirmed by the authorities.
