Niali Haat Reduced To Ashes In Major Fire Mishap

Niali: In an extensive fire that broke out late on Saturday night at a weekly haat in the Niali Panchayat under Cuttack District, about 50 temporary shops were reduced to ashes.

Fire tenders from Niali and Adaspur were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. They managed to bring the situation under control but not before suffering losses.

Fortunately, since it was night, no one was hurt; nonetheless, estimates indicated that material damages could reach lakhs of rupees.

The fire, which started late yesterday, still has no known cause. The local sarpanch’s husband, Pramod Behera, said an investigation is being conducted to determine what caused the tragedy.
