Odisha CM Takes Aerial Survey Of Flood-Hit Districts; Likely To Hold Review Meeting With Officials

Bhubaneswar: With the flood situation still grim in most districts of the State, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik undertook an aerial survey of flood-hit areas in Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara at 3.30 pm on Thursday.

5T Secretary V K Pandian accompanied the Chief Minister during the survey of the flood-hit areas. The CM is expected to hold a review meeting with the officials.

The ravaging flood in the Mahanadi river basin has affected 4.67 lakh people of 1,757 villages in 10 districts of the State. Similarly, 2.50 lakh people in 425 villages have been marooned in the calamity.

Meanwhile. eight sluice gates of Hirakud Dam closed and currently, excess water is being discharged through 32 gates of the reservoir.

The floodwater flow receded near Mundali to 10,18,000 Cusecs by around 6 am on Thursday.
