One Dead, One Critical In Road Accident In Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj: A truck ran over two persons, killing one and critically injuring the other near the Mahubhandar bridge on National Highway 49 under Bisoi police limits in Mayurbhanj today morning.

The two victims were travelling on a motorcycle when the truck struck them from behind. The truck fled from the spot.  The identity of the victims of this accident is yet to be ascertained.

The person driving the bike died on the spot while the pillion rider had a close shave and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care, where his condition remains to be critical. Both the bike riders were inhabitants of the same locality.

Police arrived on the spot and sent the body of the deceased to the hospital for autopsy.

“As per preliminary reports, two people were struck by a speeding truck this morning while they were out with some work. One person who was run over by the lurry died on the spot while the other sustained critical wounds. We have transferred the injured to a nearby hospital where he is currently being treated. Further investigation is underway,” a Bisoi police official said.
