Paper Boats For Bali Yatra Create World Record

Cuttack: At a function hosted by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) at the fair today, the renowned Cuttack Bali Yatra got into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The world record was set by more than 2100 kids from 22 schools who produced over 22,000 paper boats in 35 minutes.

Around 50 Guinness Book of World Records representatives, including one from London, were present at the event, along with Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani and Cuttack Mayor Subash Singh.

Prior to the effort to break the world record, school kids received training in the construction of paper boats.

The CMC’s decision was intended to gain international attention for the city’s yearly open trade fair held along the bank of the Mahanadi River.

The Guinness Book of World Records officials set restrictions on the paper boats’ dimensions and weight.

The CMC had contacted the Guinness Book of World Records’ London headquarters and requested a list of procedures for organising the attempt on the record.
