Lord Jagannath’s Nabami Sandhya Darshan at Gundicha Temple Restricted Till 5 PM

Puri: Preparations for the Bahuda Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings are underway at the Gundicha temple. However, devotees need to take note of the restricted timings for the Nabami Sandhya Darshan. The Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Ranjan Kumar Das, announced that the darshan of the deities on the Adapa Mandap will be restricted from 5 PM on June 27. This will be the last opportunity for devotees to offer prayers before the sibling deities return to their abode the following day.

The Sandhya Darshan will commence at 7 AM and continue until 5 PM, after which it will be suspended due to the upcoming Bahuda Yatra. To ensure a darshan of the deities, devotees are requested to arrive before 5 PM. This information was conveyed by Ramkrushna Dasmohapatra, secretary of the Daitapati Nijog.

Meanwhile, the ‘Dakshina Moda’ ritual, which involves turning the chariots southward, will be observed tomorrow. Currently positioned northward in front of Gundicha temple, the chariots need to be reoriented towards the Jagannath Temple for their return journey. The ritual derives its name from this southward turn.

In preparation for the ritual, the chief carpenter of Lord Jagannath’s chariot, Nandighosha, Bijay Mahapatra, along with the chief Kamara servitor Dasarathi Maharana, inspected the chariot today. As part of the inspection, a U-Clamp will be fitted to the axle connecting the rear wheels.

Devotees are advised to plan their visit accordingly and make the most of the available darshan timings during this auspicious time at the Gundicha temple.
