Sambalpur Lawyers Resume Work

Sambalpur: Normalcy returned to the district court premises here as lawyers of the Sambalpur Bar Association (SBA) resumed work after a stalemate of around 22 days.

The decision to resume work by the lawyers from today was taken unanimously at a meeting of the SBA on Monday.

The lawyers had earlier in the day met and discussed with some SBA office bearers who are in jail following their arrest during the lawyers’ agitation. The lawyers joined work in view of the inconvenience faced by the public.

“Following the decision at yesterday’s meeting we have joined work. It’s good that normalcy has returned,” said Sabir Ahmed, former president, SBA.

“Things are getting normal. From tomorrow more people will come to know and things will be better,” said Arta Mishra, Special Public Prosecutor.

Members of SBA were abstaining from work following the arrest of lawyers in connection with the vandalism in the district court complex on December 12.
