Sambalpur Violence: Curfew To Be Lifted In Remaining Areas Tonight

Sambalpur: Sambalpur Superintendent of Police (SP), B Gangadhar informed on Saturday that Curfew would be lifted in the remaining areas under two police limits on today, noting that life is returning to normal in the violence-hit Sambalpur and that there have been no complaints of any untoward incidents.

“We have already removed the curfew in four police limits. We will lift the current nighttime curfew in the Town and Dhanupalli police limits after evaluating the circumstances,” Gangadhar stated in a statement to the media.

“We enjoin people to utilise social media responsibly and refrain from disseminating any misinformation, provocative content, or hate speech. You can call our control room if you want to confirm any information. Additionally, we have established a social media monitoring cell that is keeping an eye on all platforms,” the top cop added.

Admins of two social media groups have already received summonses and warnings. Gangadhar warned that if someone breaks the rules, they will file a complaint.

The police have detained 102 people for their role in the violence. Gangadhar said that while 46 people had been detained in connection with the incident on April 12, 56 people had been detained relating to the incident on April 16.
