ANI & NDTV Accounts Disabled By Twitter; Here’s Why

Bhubaneswar: Asian News International (ANI) and NDTV’s accounts on Twitter appear to have been locked. When one tries to log into check the handle on Twitter, a pop-up stating “This account doesn’t exist” appears.

While Smita Prakash, the editor of ANI, reported on Saturday that ANI’s account had been locked because it did not meet the minimum age requirements to use the microblogging platform. The reason why NDTV’s account was disabled is still a mystery.

ANI’s handle has been locked, according to a screenshot Prakash provided of a tweet advising her of the situation.

The mail reads, “In order to create a Twitter account, you must be at least 13 years old. Twitter has determined that you don’t meet these age requirements, so your account has been locked and will be removed from Twitter.”

Minutes after ANI’s Twitter account disappeared, Smita Prakash tweeted, “So those who follow @ANI bad news, @Twitter has locked out India’s largest news agency which has 7.6 million followers and sent this mail – under 13 years of age! Our gold tick was taken away, substituted with blue tick and now locked out.”

Since Elon Musk took control of the social media company and reduced staff, a number of issues with Twitter have been reported by users, raising questions about the service’s viability with fewer engineers.
