Sonepur Sizzles At 38.3 Degree Celsius, Highest In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Intense heatwave conditions continued to prevail in several parts of Odisha on Thursday as maximum temperatures in at least 12 places were recorded above 37 degrees Celsius or above.

As per the Regional Met Department, Sonepur was the hottest place in the state at 38.3 degrees Celsius and the lowest minimum temperature of 12.0°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Similarly, twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack record 37.9 and 36.8 degree respectively.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin, the minimum temperatures observed marked a rise at one or two places over the districts of south coastal Odisha, an appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of north Odisha, an appreciable fall at one or two places over the districts of south interior Odisha and no major change elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for dense fog at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Bhadrak.

The weather department has forecast that there will be no change in the weather for the next five days. Dry air is flowing into the state from the western part of the country.
