Sparsh Healthcare Leads Tobacco Awareness Walkathon on World No Tobacco Day

Bhubaneswar: Sparsh Healthcare on Friday organised a walkathon to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use in line with the World No Tobacco Day theme “Preventing Tobacco Use Among Children.” This initiative aimed to educate the public and promote a tobacco-free society.

Sparsh Hospital, known for its 18-year commitment to tobacco cessation programs, flagged off the rally from Master Canteen to Sparsh Hospital, Saheed Nagar. The event brought together doctors, nurses, faculty, and students from Sparsh Nursing College. Additionally, representatives from various social institutions like Stilitij Welfare Society, Young India Society, Satyanagar Mahila Sangathan, Kriya Foundation, Ladies Circle India, Round Table India, Bhubaneswar Queens Ladies Circle, and Bhubaneswar Knights Round Table participated, actively promoting awareness.

Approximately 700 people, including cancer survivors and those who have overcome oral cancer, joined the rally.

Sparsh Healthcare’s prominent figures, including Dr. Priyabrata Dhar (Chief Managing Director), Dr. Ghanashyam Biswas (Deputy Director and Senior Cancer Specialist), Dr. Bidhubhusan Nayak (Medical Director), Dr. Rajesh Kumar Padhi (Head and Senior Specialist of Head and Neck Department), Dr. Anuj Tiwari (Hospital Group’s Chief Executive Officer), Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jangid (Senior Doctor), Dr. Sunil Madhava Panda (Senior Doctor, Pathology Department), Dr. Mrinal Kanti Das (Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics), Dr. Rajib Kumar Ray (Child Specialist), Mr. Chinmaya Mahapatra (Hospital Executive Officer), and Mr. Sharat Chandra Bhanja (Kantravadi Hospital Correspondent), all participated and stressed the importance of creating a tobacco-free and healthy environment.
