Congress CWC Meeting On December 21 to Strategize for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections: Reports

New Delhi: Congress has convened a crucial working committee meeting on December 21 to strategize for the 2024 General Election and devise a campaign plan against the BJP, sources revealed. The gathering, summoned by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, is set to take place at the All India Congress Committee headquarters, immediately following the INDIA bloc meeting on December 19. Key agenda items include seat sharing and campaign strategies.

The meeting is anticipated to explore the prospect of a pre-2024 election yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, focusing on issues of unemployment and rising prices. The party is considering an east-to-west yatra in a hybrid mode, possibly including on-foot components, with a decision expected soon.

Prior to the Congress Working Committee meeting, the 4th meeting of the INDIA bloc leaders will be held on December 19 in New Delhi. Challenges such as developing a “core positive agenda,” seat sharing, and coordinating joint rallies will be addressed, emphasizing the unity theme “Main Nahin, Hum” (We, Not Me).

The CWC meeting will also analyze recent assembly poll results, particularly the defeats in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan while securing victory in Telangana and facing losses in Mizoram. The focus will be on understanding the reasons for the defeats and outlining a strategy for the 2024 polls.

Amidst the current political landscape, the Congress aims to craft an alternative positive agenda to counter the BJP in the upcoming general elections. Recognizing the need for innovative thinking, the party seeks to position itself effectively against the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2024.
