12 Indian Boxers Aim to be in Finals of Asian Elite Boxing Championships

New Delhi: In Boxing, 12 Indians will aim to seal their berths in the final as they contest the semifinal bouts at 2022 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan.

The semi-final bouts for the women’s category will kick off today and will be followed by the men’s semis tomorrow.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain in 75kg category will take on Seong Suyeon of the Republic of Korea in her semi-finals bout.

Alongside Lovlina, Parveen in 63kg category will be up against Uranbileg Shinetsetseg of Mongolia while competition debutant Preeti in 57kg category will be involved in a tough matchup against Irie Sena of Japan.

The other four women in semifinal action will be Alfiya Pathan, Saweety, Ankushita Boro, and Minakshi.

In the men’s category, Shiva Thapa in 63.5kg category will face two-time Asian Championships medalist Bakhodur Usmonov of Tajikistan. Mohammad Hussamuddin in 57kg category will go head-to-head against Serik Temirzhanov of Kazakhstan.

The other three men in semi-final action will be Narender, Sumit, and Govind Kumar Sahani. The final of the tournament for the women’s category will take place on Friday and for the men’s category will be conducted on Saturday.
