3655 Km Long Asia’s Longest Cycle Race Flagged Off from Kashmir

Srinagar: Asia’s longest cycle race was flagged off from Srinagar in Kashmir on Wednesday. The cyclists will travel from Kashmir to Kanyakumari during this race. As many as 29 cyclists, including one woman, are taking part in this first-of-its-kind 3,655-kilometre cycle race event. Specially-abled cyclist Geeta Rao is the only woman contestant in this race.

This race has been accorded the status of Asian Ultracycling Championship by the World Ultracycling Association (WUCA). The cyclists completing this extremely long journey will automatically qualify for the World event.

As per organizers, the participants may take 12 to 14 days to complete the 3655 Km race. But some of the participants are planning to complete it in nine to 11 days.

Specially-abled Geeta Rao would be cycling with one leg in this race. Through her participation, she wants to pass on the positive message that if she can dream of it and achieve it, everyone can do it.
