Gautam Gambhir To Play In 2nd Edition Of Legends League Cricket

New Delhi: Former India opener Gautam Gambhir is all set to play in the second edition of Legends League Cricket, which gets underway on September 17. Gambhir confirmed his participation, expressing delight to return to competitive action once again.

Former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will lead the Maharajas in the special match against Eoin Morgan-led Giants as the Legends League Cricket celebrates 75 years of India’s Independence at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

“I am glad to share that I have committed to take part in the upcoming Legends League Cricket from September 17th onwards. I am excited in anticipation of being on a cricket field once again. It will be a privilege and an honour to rub shoulders once again with the glitterati of world cricket,” Gambhir said in an official release.

Gambhir played 58 Tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20Is for India, scoring in excess of 10,000 runs in international cricket. Gambhir played a key role in India’s memorable T20 World Cup triumph in 2007.

The left-handed opener was the star of the show in the final of the 2011 World Cup which India won after beating Sri Lanka in the final in Mumbai.
