CM Naveen Patnaik Inaugurates Odisha Table Tennis Academy to Foster Sports Excellence

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to boost the development of sports and fitness, especially in the field of Table Tennis, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Odisha Table Tennis Academy in Bhubaneswar. This inauguration coincided with the opening of the 29th State Table Tennis Championship in 2023.

The newly established Odisha Table Tennis Academy boasts a spacious arena with 16 table tennis tables, a well-equipped gymnasium, a weightlifting room, and a dedicated chess area. Moreover, it caters to yoga and Zumba enthusiasts, offering a holistic approach to fitness and well-being. The academy aims to cultivate a new generation of table tennis talents from the state.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his enthusiasm for this development, stating, “With the inauguration of the Odisha Table Tennis Academy, we are taking another significant step towards promoting sports excellence in table tennis. This academy will not only nurture emerging talents but also serve as a hub for recreation and competitive spirit.”

Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of 33 Table Tennis Centres within indoor halls across the state. These centres are expected to be operational by December 2023, each equipped with three table tennis tables. Additionally, the Cuttack TT Academy, featuring 16 tables, will also commence operations shortly.

The Chief Minister lauded the Odisha State Table Tennis Association for its efforts in promoting table tennis within the state and pledged full support to nurture elite table tennis players from Odisha who can represent India on the international stage.

Notably, dignitaries from the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), namely Chaudhury and Kamlesh Mehta, praised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his vision in promoting sports and his support in hosting prestigious events like the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship and the National Table Tennis Championship in 2019.
