KKR Hand Reins Back to Shreyas Iyer For IPL 2024, Nitish Rana Named VC

Shreyas Iyer is set to captain the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming IPL 2024, as confirmed by the team’s management. Iyer, who missed the entire IPL 2023 due to a back injury requiring surgery, made a successful comeback in the Asia Cup and showcased excellent form against Australia.

Having recently concluded a remarkable World Cup performance, scoring 530 runs with two centuries and three fifties at an average of 66.25, Iyer has proven himself as a valuable asset. KKR CEO Venky Mysore expressed delight at Iyer’s return and captaincy.

Nitish Rana, who led KKR to a seventh-place finish in IPL 2023, has been named the vice-captain. Iyer acknowledged Rana’s commendable leadership during his absence, emphasizing the strengthened leadership group with Rana as Vice-Captain.

Reflecting on the challenges of the previous season, Iyer expressed confidence in overcoming obstacles. The KKR skipper praised Rana for his performance and leadership in the previous season.
